1968 1981 Custom home builder and general contractor
1981 Started Terra Cotta Duplication and Restoration. Specialized in wet cast reproduction of architectural terra cotta.
1883-1991 Terra Cotta and Cast Stone Manufacturing (now Continental Cast Stone). Learned to do dry tamp after a trip to two east coast producers of which one was Russell Cast Stone (now a part of Continental). TCCS went from $ 100,000 a year in sales to $ 3,500,000 when I was the Director of Operations.
1993-2000 Returned to KC and formed a partnership to begin Architectural Art Stone. We did dry tamp, wet cast and architectural precast. Started in 1993 with a $ 50,000 job in Branson, MO and when I sold my interest we were doing the Sprint World Headquarters Campus in KC. It was $ 4,000,000 of wet cast caststone and architectural precast. Another “trophy” job was the restoration of the roof on the Parthenon in Nashville, TN. Ten thousand exposed aggregate roof tiles.
2000 to present Cast Stone Consultants
I am a very “hands on” consultant. I have done shop drawings, tamped, vibrated, sold and made molds in wood, fiberglass and rubber.
As a consultant I can help you improve your profit, train mold makers/tampers and design equipment or be quite frank and tell you not to buy an existing business or start a business.
I am not afraid to get my hands dirty and foreign jobs
are a specialty
My help can include:
Plant layout
Independent evaluation of a business for sale
Evaluation of proposed markets for cast stone
Mold making and training
Machinery design and acquisition
Shop drawings
Independent evaluations of “problem” jobs
Expert witness testimony
Certification by a Cast Stone Institute member that patching/repairs are being done in accordance with CSI guidelines
Please look at the clients list and feel free to call anyone listed (none are relatives)
